IPM researchers investigated one of the most important stereotypes about women’s employment. 600 respondents were interviewed across Georgia. The main purpose of the study was to understand if it is acceptable for women to work for a paid job.

93% of Tbilisi population thinks that it’s acceptable for women to have a paid job, while 6% consider it as unacceptable. 1% of the respondents surveyed in Tbilisi do not have distinct opinion on this issue (view chart1)

The results are markedly different in regions. Only 69% of regional population consider that women can work, 21% disagree with the statement and 10 % didn’t have own position regarding the issue. (view chart2)
We marked out respondents, who think that it’s normal for women to work, by age groups and we discovered that young people (approx. 80 %) are more loyal about women’s employment than older generation (approx. 70%).
 
Having analyzed the gained data in age section, it was revealed that the younger people tend to be more loyal towards women’s employment compared with the older generation.
