The issue of population’s trust in different institutions has become extremely relevant recently. IPM team tried to find out the current situation in terms of trust towards judiciary system and conduction of fair elections. The survey was conducted nationwide with 1200 respondents over 16 years, the respondents were selected based on random selection method.

The respondets were asked the following questions: 1.Do you trust judicial system in general? 2. How fairly the last parliamentary election was conducted in Georgia?

Having analyzed the proportions of positive and negative responses confidence index was derived for these domains. The index takes meaning from 0 (absolute distrust) up to 100 (absolute trust).

It turned out that confidence index meaning for judicial system is 45 and in case of fair election conduction equals to 41. In both cases, the index is quite low. the decrease of the index is especially evident when analyzing the dynamics of index change in past several years. The charts provided below shows that both research areas have almost same tendency of changes in confidence index. In both cases, the value of index has decreased since 2013. It should be noted that the maximal values of the indices were observed exactly in 2013. The lowest rate was revealed in 2008-2009 years, especially low confidence (index - 28) was observed in 2009 towards presidential elections.
